#2 Wayne High soared past the Green River Pirates on Wednesday to secure another Region 19 win, 96-64.

Wayne charged out of the gate in Green River, putting up a game high 29 points in the first. The Pirates managed 14, putting them behind early. The visiting team went on to score 27 points in the second, leaving Green River trailing 56-29 at the break.

The Pirates were not able to reign in their opponent’s energy in the third as they were outscored 26-14. Green River had its best output of the game in the fourth, 21 points, but it was not enough to make a comeback.

Trey Vetere put up four threes in the effort, good for 14 points overall. Axel Anguiano was also in double digits with 12 while Sam Corrigan and Rad Hughes added 11 apiece.

Green River (4-12, 2-5 Region 19) will look to snap its four-game losing streak on Saturday as the team hosts Whitehorse (0-7, 0-7 Region 19) for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
