The 2016 Miss Carbon County winner was crowned Saturday at Mont Harmon Middle School’s auditorium. Aajah Breinholt was chosen out of four contestants to hold the title for the next year and compete in the Miss Utah pageant later in her reign.

Other pagenat hopefuls included Lexi Monson, Misty Bingham and Samantha Bennett. All contestants performed for a panel of judges and an auditorium of community members. Contestants were introduced and then participated in lifestyle and fitness (swimsuit), talent, onstage question and evening gown competitions.

Monson sang for her talent portion while Bingham and Bennett played a violin solo and performed a jazz dance, respectively. Breinholt chose to perform a tap-dance number for her portion of the talent competition.

All contestants also answered an on-stage question pulled at random from a number of questions written by the contestants and talked about their individual service platforms. Breinholt plans to work with the local Boys and Girls Club in the coming year as her platform.

Those in attendance could vote for their favorite contestant by placing money in jars represented by each contestant. Each of the four decorated a pair of shoes to represent them and placed them by their individual jars. One dollar equaled one vote and the proceeds will be donated to Primary Children’s Hospital.

Breinholt won the people’s choice award and Bennett was named Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants. Other performances added to the evening including dance numbers by local dance studios and various performances by fellow Carbon County royalty members.
