Business Expansion and Retention Press Release

The days of Robert Bennett being a U.S. Senator from Utah are now long past. Something that has gone by the wayside is his dedication to small and rural businesses by holding a rural economic summit each year in the non-Wasatch Front parts of the state of Utah.

With this in mind, USU Eastern, Price City and the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce are working together to bring back just such programs to the rural areas by having the first Eastern Utah Economic Summit in Price on Nov. 5 and 6, 2015.

The summit will begin with a pre-conference agenda on the afternoon of Nov. 6 with training from Roger Brooks, the author of “Your Town: A Destination and The Art of Branding a Community.” Brooks is well known as a guru of helping towns and cities to grow and thrive.

That same afternoon, a number of events that will show off the area will take place, including a planned mountain bike trail trip, an OHV event to show off the Carbon County Trail System and a frisbee golf tournament on the combined USU Eastern and Price City Pioneer Park course.

That night, there will be an open house reception at the USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum.

On Friday, Nov. 6, the day will be filled with speakers and breakout sessions that will address such issues as marketing, crowd funding, exporting of goods, and products and other issues that can help business in rural areas.

The day will conclude with an innovation competition in which businesses and individuals will compete for prizes for their presentation of ideas and concepts in growing business.

Mark the dates on your calendar so you won’t miss this unique and exciting event. Registration and details about the summit will be released by the end of September.
