Hope Squad Press Release

The Hope Squad of Carbon and Emery counties is requesting donations for the third annual Hope Festival that will take place on Dec. 4 at the Notre Dame Hope Center.

This yearly event is to address suicide awareness in the local communities. Suicide is the third leading cause of death in America for youth ages 15-24. More teens and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza and chronic lung disease combined. Every 17 minutes, another American dies by suicide. Everyday, 86 Americans take their own life and another 1,500 attempt suicide.

With the growing amount of suicides in the local community, 12 to date this year in Carbon, Emery and Grand counties, the Hope Squad is a grassroots organization dedicated to educating the public on suicide prevention, reaching out to support individuals and families, increasing community awareness and connecting those in need to appropriate resources.

The Hope Squad would greatly appreciate a donation and interest in the lives of the youth and adults of the community. For more information on how to donate to the Hope Squad, please call Debbie Marvidikis at (435) 637-3671 or Kathy Donathan at (435) 636-1175.
