Saturday was free fishing day throughout the state of Utah. Utah Division of Natural Resources and Carbon County Recreation joined together to sponsor free fishing day. From 8- to 11 a.m. at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Fish Pond, supplies were provided by the Utah Division of Natural Resources. Also at the event, Carbon County Recreation provided free drinks and doughnuts.

Free fishing day was a great day for families to fish withing a license. Many kids at the event were fishing for the first time and got to experience catching their first fish. The DNR estimated that about 75% of those fishing Saturday used the gear they provided. The Carbon County Fairground Fish Pond was stocked with more than 1,000 rainbow trout for the event.

Carbon County invites the community to come out to the fairgrounds for some great fishing. Also coming soon, through the joined efforts of Carbon County and the Utah Division of Natural Resources, new restrooms and a fish cleaning station will be introduced to the fish pond.
