Authorities were dispatched to Wellington City Park just before 7 a.m. Wednesday morning following a report of a child wandering in the park.

According to Carbon County Sheriff’s Office Detective Wally Hendricks, the three-year-old female was found in the park wearing nothing but a diaper. Deputies immediately took the child into custody.

“She was cold but physically she was fine,” Hendricks explained.

The sheriff’s office quickly put a photo of the young girl and her description on Facebook in an effort to find her parents. The child’s worried parents were notified that their child had been located and the mother arrived to retrieve her daughter around 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

“We are just really grateful for people on our Facebook page,” Hendricks explained. “Thank you for all the assistance.”

It is not known how long the child was missing or how she got away from home. Police are still looking into the matter.
