The sentencing of Yvette Marie Broussard Booker and Donovan Eugene Booker took place Friday in Seventh District Court. Both pleaded guilty and were sentenced on Friday as well.
Yvette Booker, 47, pleaded guilty to eight second-degree felonies and two third-degree felonies. She was sentenced to multiple prison terms. The terms were suspended and a three- year probation period supervised by the Department of Corrections was sentenced. She was also sentenced to 120 days of monitored home confinement as part of the probation, to pay a $5,000 fine, undergo a psychological investigation and following any treatment prescribed. She was also ordered to pay a $115,000 restitution fee which was forfeited as part of a previously posted cash bail, an agreement to abide by federal, state, and local laws, and will be placed on the White Collar Crime Registry for life.
Donovan Eugene Booker, 69, pleaded guilty to a class A misdemeanor and was sentenced to a year in jail which was suspended and a probation of 24 months was sentenced. Booker was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, undergo psychological treatment and abide by any treatments therein prescribed, abide by federal, state, and local laws, and pay a $115,000 restitution which was satisfied by the bail forfeiture of Yvette Booker.
Both Yvette and Donovan Booker will return to the state of Louisiana under an inter-state compact and will complete their probation periods there.
According to a Price City Press Release, Yvette Booker, a former resident of Price, embezzled funds in excess of $110,000 from BODEC and Bruno Engineering. Donovan Booker was allegedly a beneficiary of the stolen funds.
