Bowling for the Blind Event Will Raise Money for LCA Research

Bowling for the Blind will be hosted at Jensen Country Lanes on May 17 beginning at 10 a.m. Proceeds from the event will go to the Oakley Giraud Foundation to help find a cure for Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA) blindness.

Giraud was diagnosed with the rare disease at four months old. LCA affects three out of every 100,000 children born. It is estimated that only 3,000 cases currently exist in the United States, and Oakley is the only known child in Utah with the disease.

Although Giraud has been diagnosed as legally blind, the progression of the disease will eventually leave her completely blind at some point in her life.

Come support Giraud and her family at the Bowling for the Blind event and help raise money and awareness for LCA research.

Sign up sheets are located at Southeast Paint Wallcovering and Blinds, Don Marcos, Castle Valley Dental Specialists, Marsha’s Sammich Shop and Jensen Country Lanes. Sign up sheets must be turned in by May 14th. Registration is $15 per person and includes three games, shoe rental and three raffle tickets. All ages welcome to participate.

Any business interested in sponsoring a lane may contact Alysa at (435) 650-8877 for more information.

The Giraud family would like to thank the following sponsors:
