One week after Staker Parson’s acquisition of Nielson Construction Company, things seem to be “business as usual” according to public relations manager Derek Richards.

“The transition seems to be going fairly smooth,” added Nielson Construction General Manager John Nielson. “Change can be scary, but Staker Parson has been very supportive in making the transition. They have brought in software and technology to aide in communication and management.”

Nielson will retain his position as general manager as will all other managers. Nielson said one of the advantages of this sale is the synergy between the two companies, which makes it possible to look at much larger projects. Aligning the companies gives both better opportunities and increases bargaining power.

“On February 1, Staker Parson Companies, the leading provider of quality construction services and materials in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Arizona, completed the acquisition of Nielson Construction located in Huntington, Utah,” a press release from Oldcastle Materials, the parent company of Staker Parson, stated. “The assets acquired include three asphalt plants, two crushing plants, one ready-mix plant and construction operations.”

“We are delighted to welcome nearly 300 Nielson Construction employees to our organization,” said Staker Parson President Scott Parson. “The addition of Nielson Construction expands our ability to serve our customers as we strive to accomplish our goal to be the preferred source of quality sand, rock, landscape products, ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, paving and construction services.”

Heather Askew, communication director for Oldcastle Materials, offered information on the parent company of Staker Parson and now Nielson Construction.

“Staker Parson is part of the Oldcastle Materials family of business, a network of companies, employing nearly 18,000 people at more than 1,200 locations across 44 states,” she said. “Oldcastle Materials provides its family of businesses with a broad network of resources to help them evolve, adapt and reach their full potential. It also gives its leaders a local freedom and a national framework, empowering them to make the best decisions for their businesses and teams.”

Nielson Construction would like to thank the community for its support and assures its clients it has appreciated the support its received through the years.

The company will continue its dedication to the people of this area.
