Patrick and Amber Braun along with their four children are bringing variety to Castle Country, offering three separate businesses in Castle Dale. The Ferron family owns all three businesses.

For three years, the family has owned and operated Braun & Bunderson Monument after purchasing the store from the previous owners. The Brauns have taken over each aspect of the business, offering monuments for each individual’s needs.

“One thing that is distinguishing about our monument company is that we do all of the work in house,” Patrick explained. “The artwork, the sandblasting, the concrete, setting the monuments in the cemetery. The one exception is that the granite comes to us polished.”

Customers can choose from different sizes, shapes and colors of granite. Amber completes the artwork while Patrick brings the monument to life, creating the design on the granite and setting the stones. Additionally, Braun & Bunderson Monument also creates pet memorials, business signs, urns and benches with designs created via sandblasting.

“It’s just a family-owned business,” Patrick said. “It’s local and the work is done locally.”

Attached to the same building, Braun Lapidary carries over the family’s work with stones in the store that features rocks, fossils, minerals and much more. The storefront has been in operation for three years, but Patrick has over 20 years of experience in the field.

At the store, the family cuts and polishes stones and also offers fossils, minerals, jewelry, gemstones, beads and metaphysical crystals. In addition to selling in Castle Dale, the Brauns also travel throughout the world buying and selling their pieces. While many of the shows the family attends are in Utah, the Brauns frequent other places, such as Japan, yearly.

However, one of the most important shows the Brauns visit is the Castle Country Rock, Fossil and Mineral Show. Created by Patrick 10 years ago, the show features collectors and sellers from throughout the country during a two-day event at the Carbon County Event Center. The 10th annual event will take place June 3-4 this year with free admission for all in attendance.

The Braun’s most recent business venture is the Braun Car Wash that is also located in Castle Dale. The family purchased the car wash in September, quickly integrating the business into its routine.

“We’re just busy trying to pick up where the previous owner left off and make some improvements,” Patrick explained.

The car wash features three self-serve car wash bays along with one automatic, which is touch-free and has a dryer. All car wash bays accept credit cards as well as cash and are open 24/7. Gift cards and fleet cards are also available at Braun Car Wash. Customers can also use on-site, cash-only vacuums at the business.

All three businesses can be found at 530 East Main Street in Castle Dale or contacted at (435) 381-5192. Braun & Bunderson Monument and Braun Lapidary are both open Monday-Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or by appointment. Customers are welcome at the car wash 24/7.
