Business Spotlight: The Kid’s Station

Helper City’s Main Street has undergone many makeovers recently that include the street itself, galleries and especially businesses. One such addition to the community was the opening of children’s clothing store The Kid’s Station.

Local resident Ashley Hoffman had the idea to open a children’s clothing store when she was faced with being unable to find what she needed for her young son when he was in clothing sized 18 months. She presented the idea of opening their own store to her husband Jake. From there, the progress grew until The Kid’s Station opened its doors in early December.

Located at 202 South Main Street in Helper, The Kid’s Station offers boys’ and girls’ clothing in sizes from newborn up to size 16. In addition to the clothing, the store also carries shoes at times. The boutique Love & Fluff is now exclusively partnered with The Kid’s Station and will feature hairbands in sizes beginning in newborn and going up.

The clothing is received from a wholesaler in Texas and enables the business to carry popular brands such as Gymboree, Carters, First Impressions, Under Armour, Disney and more. The Kid’s Station also carries the vendor Lazy Ones and plans to soon receive Ruffle Butts.

The Hoffmans acknowledge that buying clothing for children is a necessity. With this in mind, the couple strives to stay in a decent price range to ensure that locals have more opportunities. Prices range from a low of $2 upward to $22. The highest price on a single item currently is $25.99, which is the Lazy Ones brand.

The duo are also looking for locals that make products such as blankets, burp rags and the like to sell their inventory at the store.

“We’re always looking for the best deals so that we can provide the best deals; so that people still get the opportunity to shop local and put it back into the community,” Ashley said.

If you are looking for the convenience of online purchasing, the business also provides that opportunity. Visit www.thekidsstationllc.com to browse the business’ inventory. Once an order in placed, The Hoffmans instantly take the item that you ordered, pack it and ship it.

The Kid’s Station is open Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and can be reached at (435) 472-KIDS. The business also has a Facebook page where they host auctions for the community to bid on their items. During Helper City’s First Friday event each month, the store remains open later and will be implementing events for children during the monthly celebration.
