SEUEPA Press Release

SEUEPA and Carbon County have an exciting, free event coming up for all high school age students in Carbon and Emery counties!

Energy Days/4th of July Celebration 2017 is growing, and we are inviting all sports teams, clubs, groups, etc. to put together a team of six, to represent and participate in a special coal shoveling contest. Winning team will receive $500 cash for their group.

Example: Carbon High Cheerleaders would pick six girls to represent the cheer squad. They will compete against six individuals from a different group, i.e. the golf team, band group, or FBLA. The winning team is the first to have ALL SIX PARTICIPANTS fill their coal bins. Our purpose and goal is to continue getting the community involved and knowledgeable with our great energy industry (while having tons of fun doing it). We are focusing on unity and team building skills by encouraging the students to strategize and work together to get their coal bins filled.

It is encouraged, (but not required) that each group wear matching shirts, socks, or some familiar thing that will help distinguish the group. This can be something patriotic or group/team related, but the more creative the better. (Prizes awarded)

So, here is a quick recap of what will be taking place during the FREE Energy Days/4th of July Event between 5 and 8 p.m. on July 4, 2017, @ the Carbon County Event Center.

  1. Must be a high school student to participate. (Schools applicable – Carbon, Emery, Pinnacle and Lighthouse).
  2. Students from their group/club/team will choose six individuals to represent them by shoveling coal into bins. The team that does this the quickest will win $500 CASH!
  3. It is strongly recommended that groups pre-register by July 1, 2017. (This is to help us in the preparation process, however, teams that show up at the event will be permitted to compete). Please contact Karra Hillam 435-650-5701, Rita Vigor 435-820-0744, or James Martinez 801-349-0098, for questions and registration.
  4. In the case that a group/team does not have six individuals to participate, a coach, leader, or principal may be substituted J

We are looking forward to an incredible event enjoyed by all.
