A large number of students, 18 teams, participated in the Canyon View Dutch oven cook-off last Wednesday. This annual event is sponsored by the Family and Consumer Sciences Club.  Volunteer judges included Kerrie Allred, Jared Black, and Doug Johnson from the School District Office.

Winners of the best all-around meal were Kaylee Durrant, Megan Hess, Mackenzie Nielson, and Haley Guymon with the entry of pizza bites and brownies. Second place with a meal of chicken, macaroni and cheese and Cinnamon rolls went to Angie Nielson and Macie Nielson. Best main dish prize was ribs and potatoes, prepared by Arilyn Allred, Kamyn Childs, Jayce Bradley, and Madisyn Mann. Second place was cowboy breakfast entered by Austyn Gardiner, Jordyn Turner and Devin Kelly. Kami Jensen and Janessa Weston cooked the best dessert, brownies, followed by Daezy Defa and Stephany Aviles’ Lava Cake.

Many parents and onlookers were on hand to help with the preparation and purchase of the delicious food.
