Carbon Caring for Kids kicked off its initial service in Carbon County in preparation for Thanksgiving break. Local community members Marcy Loveless, Tiffany Noyes and Randi Lyn Leonard saw a need for students who suffered hunger on the weekends and over long holiday breaks.

Carbon Caring for Kids needs donations of shelf-stable foods that require little to no preparation for kids who are self-sufficient. A list of foods needed can be found on their Facebook page by simply searching Carbon Caring for Kids.

This project is made possible through collaboration with the counseling departments at local schools who identify students who can benefit, submit the number needed, and then distribute the care packages. The volunteers and donors never know which kids will benefit as it is anonymous. Schools reported that students who received the food packages were so relieved and grateful for the generosity that they were moved to tears.

Carbon Caring for Kids accepts donations weekly at Loveless Ash, TougHer, and Rocky Mountain Care. Find us on Facebook for more information and to volunteer.
