Frank Ori, Rose Barnes and Linda Ballard took time during the regularly scheduled Carbon County Commission meeting on Wednesday evening to present Carbon schools with a check that will benefit them throughout the school year. This check came from funds that were raised through the Mike Ballard Fundraiser Golf Tournament that took place earlier this summer.

Carbon High School Principal Bruce Bean, Mont Harmon Middle School Principal Seth Allred, Helper Middle School Principal Mika Salas and Carbon school board members Jeff Richens and Kristen Taylor were all in attendance for the presentation of the check.

The total for the check given to the school district was $14,170.07. This money will be aimed toward assisting students that wish to participate in extracurricular activities but may not have the funds available.

“We couldn’t be more proud than to donate this money,” Ori stated.

Ori then informed commissioners and the listening crowd that the Carbon recreation department will continue to work with the principals, administration and school board to come up with another fundraiser idea to continue these efforts in the future.
