As last year’s waterВ agreementВ expired, Price City had a decision to make about the irrigation system at the fairgrounds.

Instead of spending $100,000 per year watering the different areas of the fairgrounds, the city has decided to install its own system to save money in the long run.

“It’s a very good thing and will save money,” said Carbon County Commissioner Jae Potter.

The city currently uses culinary water to water the baseball fields, the rodeo arena, motocross track, and all other areas connected to the fairgrounds. The new system will, in the future, service the new Carbon County Senior Citizens’s Center as well.

Commissioners opened a single bid June 6 from Grand Junction Pipe and Supply for new pumps to be location on the north side of the fish pond. The pumps will cost $95,900 for big pumps, $24,400 for small pumps, and 65,559.05 for specialty pumps.В Commissioners will the open construction bids in early July. The new pump station has an estimated completion date of 8-12 weeks.
