The Carbon Dinos could not be stopped on Thursday as they demolished a visiting Richfield team for the first round of the 3A State Playoffs, taking the shutout win 6-0.

Giovanni Pavoni led the charge for the Dinos, netting three of the team’s six goals. Brock Morris, Luke Hansen and Parker Humes each had a goal apiece in the win. Jack Jeppson managed the defense, protecting the net for Carbon and recording the shutout.

The Dinos found the net early in the game as Humes connected at the six-minute mark, giving Carbon an early lead. Just six minutes later, Pavoni added another to take the score to 2-0.

Morris added the next goal for Carbon off of a penalty kick 29 minutes in, giving the Dinos a dominating 3-0 lead. Hansen found the back of the net at 46 minutes while Pavoni connected twice more, at 53 and 80 minutes, to round out the scoring.

Carbon continued its quest for the 3A title on Saturday as it hosted the Morgan Trojans. Morgan netted a goal late in the first half to take the victory 1-0.

Carbon ends the season with an overall record of 10-4-2, including an 8-2-2 record in Region 14 action.
