Carbon Dinos Continue Great Golf Season

Carbon High boys’ golf coach Tom King was very proud of the team’s hard work during the match played on Thursday on their home turf. The team shot a season low of 293, earning the winning title by 39 shots over North Sanpete, who shot 332. Richfield ended with 348 followed by Canyon View with 362 and Juab at 431.

For individual scoring on the team, the boys finished first, second and third as Ryker Smith notched the tourney low, one under par with 69. Joey Penovich was next at 70 followed by Kayden Alderson with 75. Ryan Gagon rounded out the top four for Carbon with 79. The rest of the varsity were as listed: Brady Gagon, 83 and Carson Martines, 87.

Junior varsity played exceedingly as well, finishing with a shooting total of 346. Low scoring for JV was 82 by Tyler Yoklavich followed by Riley Wilson with 86. Wyatt Henrie notched 87 while Kayden Slavensky had 91, Nick Olson had 93, Kagen Rhodes had 94 and Jordan Penovich had 109.

“I am very proud of the entire team and obviously proud of Ryker and Joey for playing very well,” coach King stated. “I am very proud of the JV team, especially Tyler Yoklavich and Riley Wilson. Those two along with the rest need to continue to improve so they can pick up the spots that our seniors will leave when they graduate.”
