Students from Carbon High School’s choir department traveled to Salt Lake City over the weekend to participate in All-State Choir.

Students who participated in this event had to audition for the opportunity as well as learn music outside of class. The three-day event is an honor and incredible experience for those who performed along with 600 other students from throughout the state of Utah.

From Carbon High, 12 students were able to participate in the event. Makara Morgan, Trinelee Hatch, Addy Taylor, Tifani Wood, Nati Hopes, Mersedez Clifford, Kade Allen, James Bryner, Tyler Pierce, David Hobbs, Jack Jeppson and Saul Beecher worked with Dr. Ryan Murphy to practice and perform the songs selected. Dr. Murphy is the assistant director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

When asked what it was like to work with Dr. Murphy and the choir, Jack Jeppson and Tifani Wood both stated they took away a lot from the experience. “You could hear all of the parts sung; it was a really neat experience,” said Wood.

“I loved it,” shared Jeppson, “It was a lot of rehearsal, but definitely worth it. It’s totally different from anything else that I’ve ever experienced.”
