The Dinos met the Wasps, who took fourth in the 3A state competition last year, on the mat for a home meet on Thursday. Carbon had demolished ALA at home on Thursday 65-6 and were looking for that momentum to propel them forward.

The Dinos wrestled well, with one match going into overtime and many close matches. Despite putting up a fight, Carbon ultimately fell to Juab 52-24, however, head coach Steve Woodhouse is confident about the direction the team is going in.

“We definitely competed,” he explained. “Juab is a great team. We learn against really good teams”

In addition to the experience the team is gaining, Woodhouse is expecting the team’s energy to work in their favor at the region competition in three weeks.

“If we compete like that at region, we have a good chance of many of the boys placing,” said Woodhouse.

Carbon will travel to North Sanpete to take on the Hawks on Tuesday. On Thursday, Carbon will be back at home for “Senior Night”.
