Carbon Improves on Day Two, Takes Fifth at State

The Carbon Dinos wrapped up their season at the 3A State Tournament in Midway at Soldier Hollow Golf Course on Thursday, moving up a spot from day one to finish the season in fifth place.

Carbon sat in sixth place after day one with a 309, 28 shots behind the leader Park City. The Dinos were again steady on day two, carding another 309 to move up and past Union to secure fifth place.

Ryker Smith improved three strokes between day one and two, finishing with a 71 on Thursday. He shot 74 on day one. Kayden Alderson was steady both days, carding a 76 and 80 over both days. Ryan Gagon was in the 70s on day two, hitting a 77 after a day one 80. Joey Penovich (79, 81), Wyatt Henrie (91, 84) and Tyler Moynier (96, 85) finished the tournament strong.

Park City maintained its lead on Wednesday and ended up taking the 3A title.
