At a Carbon School Board meeting on Wednesday evening, two mechanics that work at the district’s bus garage were honored for their hard work in maintaining the buses that serve Carbon schools.

Kerry Jensen, supervisor of the transportation department at the district, explained that Travis Rasmussen and Jeremy Anderson have worked diligently to ensure that the district’s 39 buses are always tuned and ready to go. As part of the ongoing procedure to ensure the buses are safe, the fleet undergoes an inspection from the Utah Highway Patrol. Jensen said the inspectors examine the buses with “a fine-toothed comb” to ensure the strictest safety features are prevalent on each bus. Just recently, the fleet was inspected a received a gold rating from the UHP.

“The best part is it keeps our kids safe,” Jensen said.

Anderson has worked at the garage for nearly two years while Rasmussen is approaching nine years of service to the district.
