Carbon Swimmers Qualify for State

On Jan. 30 the Carbon Swim team traveled to Richfield for the Region 12 Championships. Carbon took second place overall for both girls and boys.The team qualified for state in nine individual and six relay events.

Carbon is region champion in the Girls 200 medley relay with swimmers Addy Olson, Sadie Crompton, Veronica Ibanez, and Susannah Ohlwiler. The relay team of  Lauren Engar, Olson, Crompton, and Brittney Willson took second in the 200 free and also qualified for state..

The girls 400 free relay of Engar, Ibanez, Ohlwiler, and Willson also finished second at region but qualified with their time for state.

Crompton took the region title in the 100 breaststroke and also qualified for state.  Ibanez took second and qualified  for state in both the 100 fly and 500 free. Willson place second and qualified for state in both the 50 and 100 free. Lauren Engar finished second and qualified for state in the 200 IM. Tavery Larsen qualified for state and placed second at region in the 100 back.

“There is a possibility of more girls going to state after I turn in entries on Tueday. Feb. 4th. If they are in the top 24 entered they will qualify with their times.” said Coach Kamra Davis. “Addy Olson has a chance in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke, and Lauren Engar in the 100 fly”

The Dino boys 200 free relay is this year’s region champ. It includes Joseph Keller, Connor Holyoak, Kaden Earl, and Joel Garff.  The 200 medley of Harry Torgerson, Garrett Marsing, Ryan Atwood, and  Earl qualified with their time. Also qualifying with time is the 400 free relay of Joseph Keller, Ryan Atwood,  Earl, and Garff.

Keller is going to state in both his events, winning region champ in the 200 free and placing second in the 100 back. Garff is region champ in both the 50 free and 100 free. He is ranked in the top 10 in both events at state. Kaden Earl qualified for state with a second in the 100 free. Marsing qualified for state with a second in the 100 breaststroke.
