Carbon Wrestlers Take Emery on Senior Night

The Carbon High School wrestling team took on the Emery High Spartans Tuesday evening and managed an overall victory over its cross-county rival all on the team’s senior night.

The final score found Carbon leading by over 15 points, 45-28.

Emery started out with two victories as Spartan Korby Christiansen pinned Dino Chandler Campbell in the 106 lbs class while Emery’s Dax Hall managed to pin Dallin Grant, both weighing in at 113 lbs.

Dino Bobby Blake, 120 lbs, pinned Emery’s Chase Christiansen while Casey Shiner, 126 lbs, took a victory over Zach World by an 11-4 decision, adding another win for Carbon.

Kaden Gibson, weighing in at 132 lbs, continued in favor of the Blue and White, getting a 2-1 decision victory over McKay Meccariello.

Emery’s Gus Dalton, 138 lbs, managed to pin Jorge Martinez and added more points for the Black and Gold.

Carbon then dominated the rest of the tourney as Ridie Migliori, 145 lbs, and Nathan Cowley, 152 lbs, managed to pin their respective Spartan opponents, Brady Boren and Dylan Williams.

Triton Abeyta took the next victory over Spartan Newt Oveson in the 160 lbs class, walking away with a decision victory 7-4. Emery’s Lon Hunstman, 170 lbs, next took an 8-0 decision win over Carbon’s Jake Barlow.

Emery responded in the 285 lbs class with Ty Mecham taking a victory over Carbon’s Jasper Thayn.

Emery also had three forfeits during the tournament.
