The Carbon Recreation T-Ball program got a facelift this season thanks to Carbon Emery Telcom. In March Barbara Rasmussen from Carbon Emery Telcom contacted Assistant Director of Recreation for Carbon County Frank Ori about how the telecommunications company could help with the youth t-ball and coach pitch leagues. Ori suggested that Carbon Emery Telcom purchase jerseys to provide to all the participants. In the past jerseys were not provided due to cost to the participant. Rassmussen agreed that Carbon Emery Telcom would provide jerseys to every player who registers for either t-ball or coach pitch this season.
Because of the generous donation Carbon Rec was able to lower the fee to $23 per player and include a jersey. This is a huge savings to the parents who register a child. In comparison a similar program like soccer or flag football provide jerseys for their program. The fee with a jersey included is $35 per person. Carbon Emery Telcom saved each parent who registered a child $12. That is especially huge when parents are registering two or three children at a time.
The new jerseys also made the t-ball and coach pitch programs much better. According to Ori “The jerseys make our program 100 times better! We look so professional. This is something that I have wanted to do for a while but it was always cost prohibitive to the parents. Barbara Rassmussen and Carbon Emery Telcom stepped up big time! This is a relationship that I hope can flourish into other youth sports that Carbon Rec offers.”
Registration for t-ball and coach pitch are up as well. There are 146 boys and girls registered in Price and Wellington, 34 in Helper and 47 in East Carbon and Sunnyside. This is one of the biggest years for participation in recent history and it has been attributed to the help of Carbon Emery Telcom.
The t-ball program plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Fairgrounds in Price and Helper Junior High in Helper. The East Carbon League Plays on Mondays and Wednesdays at East Carbon Park. Carbon Rec invites everyone to come watch a game and check out the new jerseys provided by Carbon Emery Telcom.
