Close to 500 volunteers swept across the county to tackle projects, clean up trash and beautify the local area. Many showed up to the Fresh Market parking lot at 7 a.m. to receive their assignments while enjoying a quick bite to eat.

Team leaders who overseen 46 projects gathered their volunteers and got started by 8:30 a.m. Tons of trash and debris were collected and sent to dumpsters around the county. Church groups, boy scout troops and many other organizations as well as individuals committed to making the county a better place to live.

By noon, almost everyone was finished with their project and headed to Washington Park to be treated to a barbecue lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers and sweet corn.
