Following an advertised public hearing at the March meeting of Castle Dale City, the council voted unanimously to approve the annexation of San Rafael Outdoors. This parcel of land will extend city limits eastward, along Highway 10, on both the north and south sides of the highway. The application for annexation was made by Danny Van Wagoner and Associates. The development will include cabins/yurts, a restaurant, activities center and other recreational facilities.

Although no formal application has been received by the city, the Land Use Committee reported to the city council that Hardmans have met with them regarding annexation of land at the east end of Sixth North. This parcel of land would increase the size of the Sixth North Road and extend it to Highway 10 near the San Rafael Recreational Access Road. Plans also include subdividing along the road and further recreational development. Zoning administrator Kerry Lake reported that the committee found the annexation favorable and made recommendation to the city for the annexation.

An application and draft ordinance for group homes was considered by the Land Use Committee and presented to the city council. The Land Use Committee also presented a new member, Monroe Magnuson, who was approved by the city council.

New TAP incentives were approved by the council and added to the employees’ handbook. The incentives include cash bonuses to full-time employees who have no infractions of safety records. These new incentives were presented to the council by city maintenance supervisor Ignacio Arrien and were approved by the council.

Castle Dale City will host its annual Easter egg hunt at Cheddar Field at 6 p.m. on March 28.
