Castle Dale Elementary recently hosted an assembly for the Miss Emery Royalty platform. Paytn Jeffs, Miss Emery Outstanding Teen, opened the program by explaining her “Motivate 2 Move” platform to the students.

In September 2014, Jeffs competed in Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen pageant and was presented the fitness award. The goal with her “Motivate 2 Move” platform is to create awareness in young people to live a healthy lifestyle by being active, participating in various activities, living drug free and eating healthy food.

After Jeffs spoke to the students about her platform, Miss Emery Sydni Ekker performed a dance routine followed by dance routines by Little Miss Emery Brynn Lindley, Junior Miss Emery Brooklyn Johansen and Miss Emery Outstanding Teen.

The program continued with Ekker’s platform presentation “Positive Body Self Image.” She explained to the students that body image is how they see themselves when they look in a mirror and that they should not be ashamed or feel uncomfortable. She told them that everyone needs to be happy with themselves because they are all unique.

Ekker finished her presentation by reading “I’m Gonna Like Me: Letting Off a Little Self-Esteem,” a book by author Jamie Lee Curtis and illustrated by Laura Cornell.

The royalty spent time at each school in Emery County to present the same assembly.
