Each year, Castle Heights Elementary student government conducts a Thanksgiving food drive. This year, students gathered 2,121 food items and 21 turkeys for the Carbon County Food Bank.

In order to make the event fun for students, a contest is conducted between grades. The grade who brings in the most food earns a special award. This year, once all of the donations were tallied by the student government, fifth grade students were deemed the winners of the contest.

For approximately two weeks, members of student government sold suckers, granola bars and fruit snacks during lunch recess. Proceeds from the sale were used to purchase 21 turkeys to be donated to families in need this Thanksgiving.
