Press Release

After 36 years of service at Castleview Hospital, Chief Nursing Officer Terri Watkins will retire from Castleview Hospital. Watkins began her employment with Castleview Hospital in 1980 as a house supervisor. In 1984, she became the director of the Maternal and Infant Department. In 1986, Watkins took on the Emergency Department as well. At one point, Watkins was the director for: Emergency Department, Respiratory Department, Industrial Medicine, Wellness Center, and Sleep Study. With the vast experience of all these clinical areas, Watkins became the Chief Nursing Officer and Risk Manager in 2003.

Through Watkins leadership, Castleview Hospital has accomplished amazing tasks, including being recently named as one of the America’s Top 20 Rural and community Hospitals, receiving an “A” Grade with the Leapfrog Group, and getting Castleview well on the road to becoming designated through the National Quality Program.

“It is difficult to express how wonderful these years have been for me,” said Watkins. “I am so proud to be associated with all of the dedicated staff and friends at Castleview Hospital who help make our communities healthier. It will be sad to leave, the truth is I love my job and the people I work with.”

Watkins also served in the United States Military, Utah National Guard during 1985-1989 in the 144th Hospital Unit. During her time at Castleview, Watkins also volunteered in the community in many different areas, to name a few: Board of Directors Carbon Boys & Girls Club, USU Eastern Nursing Department Professional Committee, Trauma Advisory Committee, and USU Eastern Adjunct Nursing Instructor.

“Terri’s passion for learning and her commitment to the profession of nursing has had a tremendous impact on our staff and on our organization,” said Mark Holyoak, Castleview CEO. “We are honored and privileged to have worked alongside Terri in her efforts to make communities healthier. We are extremely appreciative of her service and wish her the best in retirement.”

Watkins is looking forward to spending a great deal of time with her sweetheart Chuck and their grandchildren. She has also stocked up on fabric and will have her sewing machine going full speed in any spare time she has.

Filling in the shoes for Watkins as chief Nursing Officer at Castleview Hospital will be Grant Barraclough. Grant has been at Castleview Hospital since 2006, working in Physical Therapy, Med Surg, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Services, Emergency Department, and most recently as Assistant CNO. Grant is a proven leader in the organization and has demonstrated leadership as the Emergency Department Director and saw us through the recent designation of a Stroke Receiving Facility and successful Accreditation as a Certified Chest Pain Center, amongst many other accomplishments.

Castleview Hospital would like to welcome the community to an open house held in Terri’s honor on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the Hospital Classroom.
