Each month, the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce takes time during a luncheon to spotlight an organization or group in the community that goes above and beyond to serve. In September, this community spotlight shined on the Utah Marines.

The Utah Marines aim to support the marines and the community, according to its website. This includes connecting, networking and coordinating with all marines and Marine Corps related events through charity and esprit de corps, which essentially means group spirit.

“When I found out the Utah Marines were being spotlighted at this event today, I told (the chamber) we’re just a bunch of good old boys and girls who get together every once in a while and help each other or the community out,” Jeff Steiner of the Utah Marines said. “We are out here and we’re in your community. We are your friends, family, neighbors and those crazy guys who show up in a bad situation to save you just because it looked like crazy and it’s the right thing to do. We are the Utah Marines.”

The organization also works directly with a variety of charities, including but not limited to Ride to Recover, Make-A-Wish Utah and others.

“The Utah Marines is not a 501c3 nor is it sponsored or endorsed by the United State Marine Corps,” Steiner said. “We assist charities in need of our assistance when we are asked or if we can help, we will.”
