CHS Boys’ Tennis Teams Faces Off Against Delta, Wasatch Academy

The Carbon Dinos boys’ tennis team shows no sign of slowing down as it powers through back-to-back games while the season progresses. On Wednesday, the Dinos hosted Delta and came out triumphant on their own turf with a total team victory at the varsity level, scoring 5-0.

The boys all played to their strengths and had a lot to show for it. Zade Carrillo won his singles match with a finishing score of 6-1, 6-0. Carson Martines and Chandler Clifford also found themselves triumphant in their singles matches with scores of 6-4, 6-4 and 6-0, 6-1, respectively. Those that played doubles matches were also victorious.

Canden Stockdale and Jackson Rosier teamed together and earned the first doubles spot win, scoring 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Jack Christensen and Bonham Brewer also teamed together to win their doubles match with a final score of 6-2, 6-3. On the heels of this winning match, the team then hosted Wasatch Academy the following day.

The team played similarly well on Thursday, winning all varsity spots with the exception of first singles. The overall score was 4-1. Zade Carrillo, Carson Martines and Bonham Brewer all played singles matches. Carrillo wasn’t able to secure a win in his match and finished 3-6, 1-6. Martines and Brewer each nabbed a win in their matches with scores of 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0, respectively.

While Wasatch Academy was unable to bring enough players to complete in two doubles positions, one double match was played with a teaming of Canden Stockdale and Jackson Rosier, who won 6-4, 6-1. The team next played at a tournament in Vernal over the week. Scores from this tournament will be posted as they are released.

Next, the Dinos look to again host when they welcome Providence Hall on Tuesday. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m. at the Price City tennis courts.
