DWR seeks help installing chukar guzzlers near Huntington
Price — Chukar partridge are one of the most widely sought-after species among Utah’s upland game hunters. They also live in some of the most arid parts of the state, where every drop of water can make a difference for wildlife.
Division of Wildlife Resources biologists are looking for volunteers to help them install up to four chukar guzzlers near Huntington on Saturday, June 3. The group will meet at BK’s Stop-N-Shop and Sinclair gas station, 506 N. Main St. in Huntington, at 8 a.m.
Guzzlers are tanks that collect rain water for birds, small mammals and larger wildlife to drink. These guzzlers and drinkers are placed strategically in dry habitats, giving wildlife easy access to the collected water. But getting the tanks in place is a team effort. Here’s your chance to help.
“This project is a great way for people to get involved in wildlife conservation,” says Makeda Hanson, the DWR’s impact analysis biologist in southeastern Utah. “It’s hard work, but the benefits wildlife will receive from your efforts are worth it.”
