Over 275 members of the community woke up early on April 1 and met at JB’s restaurant to take part in the 5th annual Don’t Be A Butt Head 5K. This event is hosted by the Southeastern Utah Health Department.

The runners began at the Price River Trail, completing the trail and then making a loop around town before ending at the same place to finish the three-mile long race.

Top runners from the event included Easton Humes, Russell Seeley, Dallin Humes, Parker Humes, Dax Humes, Michael Jorgensen, Donald Martinez, Bonham Brewer, Cannon Mortensen, Andrew Nelson, Shawn Clapp and Buck Vasquez, Ron Brewer, Kelley Jensen, Jacie Jensen and Brayden Mathis, all with times under 25 minutes.

This 5K works in conjunction with Kick Butts Day, which is a large national event. 1,000 events occur all across the 50 states for Kick Butts Day and is largely known for youth taking a stand against tobacco use of any kind.

Organizers of the event would like to thank the Tony Basso Group, Swire Coca-Cola, Price City Police, Carbon County Sheriff’s Department, Gopher Kiahtipes of Market Express, USU Eastern and Gillan Bishop, Jerri Timothy of Fitness World, and all of the participants for making this activity a success.

A list of runners and their times from the race can be found below.
