When applying for the Community Services Block Grant, employees at the Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments (SEUALG) strive to ensure that any possible money received from the grant would go toward serving local communities how residents see fit. In order to do so, a community needs assessment in the form of a survey has been compiled and input from members of the community is now being accepted.

Geri Gamber from the SEUALG explained that the survey allows the entity to better understand the needs of the community and how to assist in meeting those needs. Residents of Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan counties can participate in the survey.

The short survey consists of 26 questions addressing employment, education and healthcare issues in the local area to issues facing families and youth. Survey takers are also asked a variety of yes or no questions about if they know where to go if they needed government assistance.

Gamber encourages every resident within the four counties to participate in the survey regardless if they need government assistance or not. Input from varying individuals and families provides crucial information to the SEUALG when applying for the grant.
