In the second round of the WORCS 2017 Season, Price native Robbie Mitchell hit the ground running but ended up settling for fifth after some confusion in the last lap of the race in Primm, Nev.

Mitchell’s bike reportedly ran out of gas with a half-mile left in the last lap of the race, according to the racer’s fan page on Facebook.

Returning to the pits, Mitchell decided to push forward and take another lap, thinking the race was shortened. Mithcell was penalized, however, an extra lap for his trip to the pits for gas and had to settle for fifth.

“We had no idea that was the new rule but it is what it is,” the page shares.

Mitchell will take a break before his next bout of action, hosted Feb. 17-19 in Taft, Calif.
