DeMarre Carroll to make appearance at Jr. Jazz event

The Utah Jazz’s very own “Junkyard Dog” will interact with basketball enthusiasts on Tuesday, June 18 at 1:30 p.m.

The event is made possible by the Utah Jazz and Carbon County Recreation and will take place in the BDAC at USU Eastern. People are encouraged to attend the free event to hear about Carroll’s career, get his autograph, and take pictures with the player. Carroll will speak about his career as an NBA player and the hard work and determination that led to his success.

Carroll was born July 27, 1986 and checks in at 6′ 8″ and 212 lbs. He attended the University of Missouri where he graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in human and organizational development. He led John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham, Ala. to two-straight state championships in 2003 and 2004. Carroll became the first player in school history to have his #32 jersey retired during a ceremony in Aug. 2009.

Carroll just completed his fourth year in the NBA and his second year with the Utah Jazz. Carroll played 66 games for the Jazz last season, 12 of which he started. He averaged six points and three rebounds per game. Carroll is well known for his intense work ethic, which earned him the nickname “Junkyard Dog.”
