Deseret Peak Complex in Tooele County was the setting for the Grantsville and Lehi high school rodeos this past weekend. The weather once again was cold and wet for the competitors.

Local team members that placed in the top ten at the Grantsville Rodeo on Friday and received points included three Emery bronc riders: McKoy Christiansen, third; Nathan Urie, sixth and Koy Jensen, eighth. Fellow Spartan Austin Allred scored in bull riding with a second place finish.

In team roping Spartans Louie Ivie and Stephan Ramone placed seventh. Carbon barrel racer Morgan Jensen captured fourth place. Emery’s McKoy Christiansen was second in tie-down roping and he also placed first in reining cow horse. Riata Christiansen finished 10th in the reining cow horse event.

Then on Saturday, the Lehi Longhorns Rodeo Team sponsored the rodeo in Tooele. Hayden Cloward and partner Kycen Winn won the team-roping event. Ivie and Ramone finished eighth. Carbon’s Jensen finished eighth in barrel racing. Fellow Dino Afton McCourt won the breakaway roping contest. Carbon team members Kolton Rhodes and Jordon Pierce were both second in the rifle shoot and trap shoot, respectively.
