Dinos Finish in Fourth at Region Competition

The Carbon Dinos hosted four other teams on Wednesday and Thursday as competitors took to the track and field for the Region 12 competition. After two days on the track, the Dinos ended with a fourth place finish.

Sophomore Sarah Ohlwiler led the girls with a first place finish in the long jump, launching past her competitors with a 17-04 jump, over six inches further than the number two jumper. Ohlwiler also notched a first place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

Morgan Hillam and Isabella Barney both notched points for Carbon in the shot put, taking second and fifth, respectively. Jordan Scoggins secured a second place finish in the javelin as well as fifth place in the 100 meter hurdles. Jordyn Oman ran into the fifth slot in the 100 meters while Sadie Crompton took the same slot in the 800 meters. Oman also took a fourth place finish in the 200 meters. Freshman Katy Fawcett took home a fifth place finish in the high jump. Sophomore Zaharah Rossi rounded out the girls’ scoring with a fifth place finish in the 3200 meters.

Gabe Vandyke took second in the high jump and fifth in the 300 meters, notching points for his team. Dallin Quinton took fourth in the 100 meters as well as third in the 200 meters. The senior Dino also jumped into the fourth spot in the long jump.

The girl’s sprint medley team earned a third place finish while the boy’s came in fourth. In the 4×100 and 4×400, both the girls and boys finished in fourth.

The teams ended with 67 points, behind Juab, Richfield and Payson.
