Beginning Region 12 play at 0-3 is not what the Carbon Dinos had in mind. Looking to get back on track after dropping those games against Canyon View, Carbon took a doubleheader against Richfield Tuesday afternoon to bring its region record to 2-3.

Cole Fossat went the distance in game one, going seven innings while spreading out seven hits and two earned runs. He struck out a season-high 13 batters in the game. He also went 1-3 at the plate, registering the team’s only extra-base hits with a double.

Anthony Maclean and Chase Morgan notched two hits apiece. The team had eight total hits in the game. Maclean and Fossat registered the team’s only RBIs.

With the score tied at two going into the fifth, the Dinos plated three runs in the inning and another in the sixth to round out the scoring.

Mitch Olson then took the mound in game two and delivered a four-hit near shutout. Fossat relieved Olson for the final out of the game. Olson struck out seven and walked four in the win.

The lone run of the game was scored in the third on an RBI single by Maclean, scoring Kameron Gunter who reached on a single just before Maclean.

The team stranded 10 runners on base. Jayden Flemmett went 2-3 with a double and triple and was stranded on base both times. Fossat also had two hits in the game, notching a double. Taylon Abeyta also contributed a triple in the game.

Carbon (6-8, 2-3 Region 12) can get even with Richfield (8-7, 3-4 Region 12) in the win column on Friday when the two teams meet up in Richfield for the final game between them on the season.
