Dinos Score Late, Take Victory Over Union

The Carbon Dinos scored four runs and broke a 10-all tie in the seventh to take a Region 14 victory in Roosevelt Wednesday afternoon against the Union Cougars.

After jumping out to a quick 6-0 in the second inning, the Cougars responded with nine runs in the next three, while holding Carbon scoreless, to take a 9-6 lead. Carbon tallied four more in the fifth to take the lead back before Union plated a run in the sixth to tie the score.

Anthony Jones doubled in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs, to help the Dinos push across four runs to take the victory.

Jones had three RBIs in the game, going 1-3. Zac Bradley doubled twice in five at-bats with an RBI. Six other players had hits in the game, with Ty Anderson knocking in three runs on his own.

Bradley got the start on the mound and recorded the no decision. He gave up nine runs, just four earned, in 3 1/3 innings. The Dinos committed six errors in the game. Triton Abeyta relieved Bradley and threw the remaining 3 2/3 innings, allowing no earned runs on just three hits.

Carbon (12-6, 5-0 Region 14) will host Union on Friday in Helper. Carbon and Juab sit atop the Region 14 standings with identical 5-0 records.
