Dr. Michael Kane presented a documented slideshow telling the story of early American Explorer Lewis Manly to the Emery County Historical Society on Thursday evening.

This history has been debated for many years. In 2006, Dr. Kane retraced Manly’s steps across the western frontier. His footsteps followed Manly’s down the Green River and across the land that later became Emery County.

Dr. Kane documented the distances and directions of Manly’s travels. He reported that this expedition was in 1849, two decades before John Wesley Powell in 1869.
