ABAJO MOUNTAINS: (July 26) Aquatics Biologist Calvin Black reported fair fishing at Recapture Reservoir for black bullheads using nightcrawlers.

CARBON COUNTY COMMUNITY FISHING POND: (August 03) Anglers report fair fishing. Early morning has been the best time to fish. Worms or lures are recommended. The Division will hold a special kids’ fishing event on Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. until noon. We will provide rods, reels and bait, and prizes will be awarded for the first fish caught and the biggest fish caught by a boy or girl.

CLEVELAND RESERVOIR: (July 26) Bait anglers report good fishing using nightcrawlers. On July 23, Tom Ogden fly fished with sinking line and a size 6 black, green and pearl soft hackle fly. He caught five rainbow trout in 2.5 hours ranging from 12 to 16 inches.

ELECTRIC LAKE: (August 03) Aquatics Biologist Calvin Black reports slow fishing from the shore and fair fishing from a boat. Calvin had the most luck trolling using orange spoons with black dots or slashes. He also recommends trying a Jakes lures.

FERRON CREEK: (July 26) Anglers report good fishing for cutthroat trout in deeper pools using Blue Fox spinners.

GOOSEBERRY RESERVOIR: (July 26) Anglers report fair fishing using PowerBait, worms and a fly and bubble.

GRASSY LAKE: (July 26) Anglers report fair fishing using PowerBait, worms or a fly and bubble.

HUNTINGTON CREEK: (August 03) Flash floods and mudslides have wiped out the trout population from South Hughes Canyon downstream to the opening of the canyon and beyond. The fishery on the left fork has also been impacted significantly.

HUNTINGTON GAME FARM POND: (July 26) Anglers report slow fishing. The pond will be restocked in September.

HUNTINGTON NORTH RESERVOIR: (July 26) On July 16, State Park Manager Dan Richards reported slow fishing.

HUNTINGTON RESERVOIR: (August 03) Aquatics Biologist Calvin Black reports fair success trolling using orange spoons with black dots or slashes. He also recommends trying a Jakes lures.

JOES VALLEY RESERVOIR: (August 03) Shereen Brown reported that her family finds good fishing on every trip to Joes Valley. She recommends using downriggers and fishing 30 to 35 feet below the surface using a florescent green daredevil, florescent green flatfish tipped with a worm, or a solid green flatfish tipped with a worm. Her family primarily caught splake. Conservation Officer Devin Christensen reports slow fishing from the shoreline. He recommends jigging using three- to four-inch white tube jigs or, if you’re using bait, he recommends chub meat.

LA SAL MOUNTAINS: (August 03) At Kens Lake, the daily limit on rainbow trout has been increased to eight fish because of the dropping water levels and rising temperatures. Conservation Officer TJ Robertson reports slow fishing.

On July 24, Lieutenant Carl Gramlich checked anglers at Rattlesnake Ponds and reported hot fishing for bluegills using a worm under a bobber. Gramlich reminds anglers that they need to call the Division office in Price to receive a free registration number in order to access the ponds. The ponds are privately owned and only available to the public under a walk-in access agreement.

LOWER FISH CREEK: (July 26) Anglers report good fishing.

MILLSITE RESERVOIR & STATE PARK: (August 03) On July 26, Tom Ogden fly-fished from a kick boat. He reported good fishing and said he lost track of the number of fish he caught, most of which were rainbow trout in the 12- to 15-inch size range. He used fast sinking line with sizes 6 and 8 black, red and blue bead head soft hackle flies or a size 4 black, green and pearl bead head wooly bugger. Tom also saw boat anglers catching fish using spinners and lures.

PETES HOLE: (July 26) Fishing has slowed down, but you can still find success using nightcrawlers or PowerBait.

POTTERS PONDS: (July 26) Fly anglers report good fishing using elk hair caddis flies. Bait anglers haven’t done as well. Try using nightcrawlers and PowerBait.

RIGHT FORK OF HUNTINGTON CREEK: (July 26) The stretch below South Hughes Canyon has been closed for public safety.

SCOFIELD RESERVOIR: (August 03) Anglers report that fishing is slow this week. Conservation Officer JD Abbot recommends using chub meat, PowerBait or Jakes Spin-a-Lures from a boat. Shoreline anglers have been less successful. A week ago, Conservation Officer Devin Christensen reported good fishing by anchoring off a point and jigging white tube jigs or silver Kastmasters tipped with chub meat. One angler caught 30 fish in five hours using Christensen’s technique.
