Economic Snapshots and Local Insights for Carbon, Emery and Grand

The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce shared a link to the Economic Blog, Economic Snapshots, Local Insights, 2012 Census County-Level Estimates.

On the page are links to every county within the state of Utah summarizing facts on areas such as unemployment rates, job growth or loss within each county, and other economic indicators.

A search on the site showed that both Carbon and Emery County’s unemployment rates are lower than the national average of 7.9%, but higher than the state rate of 5.4%. Carbon is sitting at 7.3%, while Emery is slightly higher at 7.6%. Grand County is sitting at 8.8%.

Carbon faced a loss of 193 mining-related jobs over the past 12 months, and 110 more construction jobs. Emery also saw a loss in mining, down 38.

Additionally, 63 more professional business positions were created in Carbon this year than last, and 12В additionalВ jobs in Emery. Education, health, andВ governmentВ jobs accounted for almost 90 new employment opportunities in Carbon as well. Grand saw its biggest increase in the leisure and hospitality area with 129 additional jobs created.
