The game didn’t end until 1:03 a.m. Friday, but the Emery Spartans used a huge 10th inning to escape Gunnison in the one-loss bracket to keep their title hopes alive.
The game was knotted at three in the sixth. The game stayed that way until Emery pushed across seven in the top of the 10th.
Earlier in the day against Region 15 foe South Sevier, the Spartans again used a late surge to run away from an opponent. Emery scored all its runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Friday’s game against Manti was postponed because of inclement weather and will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kearns High School. Click here to see the 2A tournament bracket.
