At the Emery County Commission meeting on Dec. 16, current commissioners discussed consideration and approval of a resolution amending the fiscal year 2014 budgets and approval of the fiscal year 2015 budgets for the Emery County general fund, special revenue funds, capital projects funds, local building authority and Castle Valley Special Service District.

Steven Hansen, Ryan Hatch and Josh McKell from the Utah Local Governments Trust presented commissioners with an overview of the workers compensation coverage for Emery County. Commissioner Ethan Migliori made the motion to stay with Utah Local Governments Trust as opposed to Utah Counties Indemnity Pool (UCIP). The motion was seconded by JR Nelson.

December marks the last month that commissioners Jeff Horrocks and Nelson will hold office as Emery County commissioners before Keith Brady and Paul Cowley step take over in January.

To commemorate their years of service to the Emery County community, commissioner Migliori presented outgoing commissioners Horrocks and Nelson, Emery County Recorder Dixie Swasey and outgoing county attorney David Blackwell, who was unable to attend the meeting, with plaques.

“I want you guys to know what you have done in the years past, whether that’s been a lifetime or four years, I am truly grateful for what you guys have done,” Migliori said. “I have a whole new respect for you as a politician. I can’t thank you enough for what you have done.”

The 2015 schedule for Emery County Commission regular meetings were changed to the first and third Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m.

The next regular meeting will be on Jan. 6, 2015 at 3 p.m.
