The main items of discussion in a recent Emery County School Board meeting were the approval of tax rates for tax year 2015 and the original budget for fiscal year 2016.  Both the tax rates and the budget were approved.

New names were also approved for employment while revisions were made to district policy regarding records management and access as well as evaluation of professional staff. An annual notification to the public was made regarding asbestos-containing materials and where they can find more information.

The opening institute for the Emery School District will be held August 24 at 12 p.m. Lunch for employees and families will be held at Emery High School and a benefits fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. An automatic class will be offered at Green River High School starting this year.

While the issue of moving the ninth grade to the high school was not discussed in depth, it was mentioned. This concept is still being carefully considered. The school district is currently meeting with the Uintah School District as well as the faculties at the schools in an effort to determine what actions should be taken.
