Emery used a remarkably even offensive performance to defeat San Juan 53-43 Saturday in Castle Dale.
Seven Spartans scored in the game, and five players scored eight-or-more points. Dallon Cologie and Dawson Jensen led Emery with 11 points each. Landon Palmer of San Juan led all scorers with 12 points.
Emery blew a two-point game wide open with a dominating defensive effort in the third quarter. Emery won the quarter 15-6.
The Spartans improved to 7-7 overall and 2-2 in region play. Emery climbed into a second-place tie with Richfield in Region 15.
Emery travels to Parawon for a non-region contest Wednesday. Region play resumes Friday against South Sevier in Castle Dale.
The game was broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 and will be rebroadcast throughout the coming weeks.
