Emery Outhits Carbon, But Loses 8-3 *Photo Gallery*

The Emery Spartans lost 8-3 in seven innings on Tuesday, despite outhitting Carbon six to five.

Ashton Bell rocked Carbon with two home runs. Bell went 2-3 in the game with two RBIs and two runs scored. Bell homered in the first and sixth innings.

Kinley Nelson got the win for Carbon. She allowed three runs over seven innings. Nelson struck out six, walked none and gave up six hits.

Carbon was sparked by Kim Johnson and Taylor Passarella, who teamed up for two hits and four RBIs.

Carbon didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning when it scored on a two-run double by Passarella.

The Lady Spartans posted one run in each of the first, fifth and sixth. In the first, the Spartans scored on a solo home run by Bell.

Carbon scored one run in the third inning and then followed it up with one more in the fifth. In the third, Carbon scored on a solo home run by Johnson.

After posting two runs in the sixth, Carbon again scored two in the seventh. In the sixth, Carbon scored on an error, scoring Katie Basinger.

A one-run sixth inning helped bring Emery within three. A solo home run by Bell sparked the Spartans rally. Finally, Nelson induced an inning-ending strike out.
