North Sevier and Emery girl’s cross country teams have battled head-to-head in Region 15 all season. Though North Sevier had the first place finisher, the Lady Spartans pulled off the region win with all four of their top runners finishing in the top 10 at the championship meet.

“It was quite exciting,” said Coach Kristi Guymon. “We have taken turns winning with North Sevier all season, but we are on top when it counted.”

Emery’s Erin Hurst crossed the line in second place, overall. She was followed by Tarryn Parkins in fourth, Hannah Dyer in ninth and Kelcie Cox in 10th. Just missing the top ten was Kassidee Oakeson, who placed 12th. Hannah Seely and Sarah Collard finished in 17th and 19th, respectively.

All seven will head to Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City to compete in the state finals on Wednesday. Coach Guymon expects her team to finish in the top 3-5 as a team. Guymon said she thinks that Hurst has a good shot at a top finish.
